Core Workflow
SubtitleGenerator runs entirely in the user's web browser. No software installation or mandatory account creation is required to start using the tool. The full process from import to export takes place on a single page.
Drop a supported video file (MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV) from your local device.
AI transcribes the spoken audio with word-level timing, and automatically flags every low-confidence word that needs manual review.
Edit flagged cues, retime captions, add new subtitle lines in any silent gap, and select a pre-built visual style.
Export the final captioned video, or choose from 8 standard subtitle file formats for use in external editing software.
Key Capabilities
Automatic error flagging
The AI identifies uncertain words during transcription and marks them clearly in the editor, so users do not have to watch the full video manually to find mistakes. Users can edit individual words, re-transcribe only the specific incorrect cue instead of the entire track, or keep the original AI output as-is.
33 subtitle styles across 6 families
All users get full access to the complete style catalog, with no locked styles in the free plan. Styles are grouped by use case:
Clean: Minimal, legible layouts for tutorials and interviews
Creator: High-energy, animated styles optimized for short-form content
Karaoke: Word-by-word highlighting for music, lyrics, and voiceover
Cinematic: Editorial, low-distraction styles for documentaries and story content
Pop: Bold, playful styles for comedy, reactions, and gaming content
Branded: Professional layouts for agencies, podcast clips, and corporate videos
Local file privacy
Your original video never leaves your device. Only the extracted audio track is sent to the transcription service, and that audio data is deleted after processing. All video rendering for exports happens locally in your browser, no upload to external servers.
Flexible export options
Users can export a burned-in MP4 video with captions already visible, or export separate subtitle files in SRT, VTT, ASS, SSA, SBV, SMI, TXT, or JSON formats. These files are fully compatible with Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and most common video editing platforms.
Transcription translation
Pro and Max plans include built-in full-track subtitle translation, directly inside the same editing workflow.
